Tris “Duke” Carpenter is a Boston native who cut his bass playing teeth on the rough streets of Norwood, Mass. in a variety of crappy high school bands just like the rest of us.

Over time, of course, he moved on to bigger and better things.  After a few years of playing with country, blues and pop bands in Western Mass., Duke moved to Connecticut where he spent nearly three years with “Better Off Blue,” a Hartford-area blues mainstay that played about 60 dates a year all over Southern New England.  At the same time, he also played for the post-punk trio “The Confessors,” a band that had to go to NYC and Boston to find an audience for their blistering style.

In 2000, Duke packed the convertible and headed to Hollywood.  His main project is BackingBand, a full band of “guns-for-hire” that have been racking up excellent credits at the bigger venues on the Sunset Strip behind singer/songwriters trying to get label deals.

Duke is available for freelance stage and studio work – contact him for rates and availability.
